Like all other national parks, each park has bacteria. Salmonella is a bacterium that is among many species of birds in Biscayne. These bacteria live symbiotically with other organisms. It causes foodborne illnesses by invading the cells that line the intestines or by making toxins.
Protist
Halimeda Tuna, commonly known as Calcareous Green Seaweed is one of the many protists in Biscayne. Found in coral reefs, they provide shelter for small invertebrates and fish. They are autotrophic and their mortality has some flagella.
Fungi
Pyrenula cerina, or wart lichen is one of the many fungi found in Biscayne National Park. It is widespread and it decomposes organic matter. Pyrenula cerina has a eukaryotic with a nucleus and complex organelles. It is both unicellular and multicellular that digest enzymes into habitat.
