EXPLOREVisit Biscayne National Park, one of America's most popular national parks. Founded in 1968 and established by a Presidential act, Biscayne National Park created to protect the Florida Keys and preserve natural history. During the early 1950s, many people have plans for the northernmost Keys. They envisioned bridges, roads, and buildings and plans were developed to build new buildings. However, a small group of people had a different approach for these islands: a national park. More and more support broke out and by early 1968, congress, led by Representative Dante Fascell, created Biscayne National Monument, now known as Biscayne National Park. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the bill on October 18, 1968.
